Jenny Smith

Jenny Smith founded Acuity Public Relations in 2012 after heading public relations departments at two agencies, communications for two United Way organizations and marketing for an OEM endoscope manufacturer.

Based in Naples, FL, Smith creates and implements PR and marketing communications programs, interviews thought leaders, crafts actionable content, spearheads media outreach and supports events. She’s dedicated to tailoring the right mix of paid, earned, owned, and shared marketing strategies for clients in healthcare, senior living and home care, professional services/consulting, education, and not-for-profit health and human service organizations.

Smith began her career in Cleveland, Ohio as a retail copywriter and marketing agency coordinator. Her professional journey has taken her from communications manager at the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut in Gales Ferry, Conn., to Puerto Rico, where she served as communications director for the island’s United Way; and to Los Angeles, where she managed California-wide anti-smoking and women’s health campaigns in the Latino community for Durazo Communications.

As marketing director for Sturbridge, Mass.-based OPTIM LLC, a visualization and technology company that manufactures endoscopy products for medical and industrial applications, Smith supported the company’s relationships with OEM customers and its expansion in the endoscope repair market.

In Hartford, Conn., Smith served for 10 years as director of PR for The Pita Group, where she worked with the state’s tourism commission, regional banks, a national health insurer, and state agencies that support child development, environmental protection/recycling, school choice and technical education.

Proficient in Spanish, Smith earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ohio Wesleyan University and her MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s Hartford, Conn. campus.

A member of PRSA’s Gulf Coast chapter and its Independent Practitioner’s Alliance, Smith is passionate about helping seniors and their families plan for their future, supporting science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) career paths for young people, and advocating for organizations that support women and girls.
